In this 5-week class you will learn the basics of working with clay through learning to throw on the pottery wheel. We will start with the cylinder and move onto cups, bowls and vases. Students will also learn how to turn their thrown objects into finished pieces by learning trimming techniques, how to attach handles and how to apply glaze. All levels are welcome.
Bring an old towel. It can get messy! Wear clothes that can get dirty.

In this class students will learn about wood turning and all the ways it is used in our lives. Starting with making personalized mallets to fit our grip, we will learn the different processes of creating shapes in woodturning. With these skills we will create our very own stool. Students will design and create their own unique legs through spindle turning. Students will also learn how to make and use a wedged, mortise and tenon joint for attaching their legs, giving them a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture to use in their everyday life. Throughout this process, students will also have the opportunity to discuss and create their own small projects.

What if you could see music?
In Sound & Sculpture, young artists will explore the connection between music and visual art by creating bold, expressive artwork inspired by sound, rhythm, and movement. Through painting, design, and sculpture, students will experiment with how colors, lines, shapes, and textures can represent different types of music.
Throughout the week, students will design and build a unique “sound sculpture”—a visually striking instrument-inspired piece of art—along with their own album cover and creative concept.
We’ll wrap up the week with a gallery-style showcase where students display their sculptures and artwork and share the inspiration behind their designs.

Gelli printing is a fun and easy mono-type and multilayer printing squishy plate (think taba squishies) that you can layer onto and press into to get a very detailed image. We will use realistic/real leaves, botanicals, handprints, feathers, and keys! You can even print from photos and glossy magazines and it feels like a toy for creative easy printmaking.

Recycle an old hardbound book into a hardbound journal, recover it with your own design and fill it with alternating decorative and blank thick paper that can take all wet and dry media. The pages are removable since they are folded and “bound” or held in place with an elastic cord through grommets. An additional bonus to this type of book is that it lays flat when open while you work in it.
