In her own words: “The Art to Heart research project at Vanderbilt University Medical Center became a project combining the two fields. As a fellow in the Evidence-Based Nursing Research Fellowship, my project evolved as a measure of the effects of art created by hospital staff on the post-operative rehabilitation of cardiac surgery patients and will be published in The Journal of MED/SURG Nursing in 2015. The second part of the Art to Heart Project studied how the art in the project impacted the nursing staff on the units and was my Capstone project for a master’s degree at The University of Florida’s College of Fine Arts.” She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors at the Corcoran College of Art and Design George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

Mary Gwyn states that she’s “passionate about painting, teaching Botanical-style Nature Art and lots of fun stuff about anything visual art. Art is a Life-long journey. Mary Gwyn is a visiting artist, art educator & RN from Nashville, TN. She loves the combination of art and healthcare.

Join me on the path.” She is a frequent teacher in the Nashville & Western KY area. To find out more about her & her work, see: marygwynsart.com.
