Enameling is the process of fusing ground glass to the surface of metal objects. For centuries, it allowed artists to add color and depth to jewelry and reliquaries, as well as add miniature paintings and portraits to their designs. Enamel artists today continue to experiment and push the boundaries of what enamel can do and it all starts here with the basics.
This class will explore painting and drawing techniques to further explore the use of enamel as an element for jewelry making. Students will create multiple samples that can be incorporated into earrings and pendants. Previous experience helpful, but not required. All materials included.
