Workshop Registration Forms: ADULT - YOUTH
BEGINNING WEAVING

Hat Making Workshop in partnership with Playhouse in the Park and the Calloway County Library
Date and Time: Saturday Jan 28, 9:30-12:30
Location: Calloway County Public Library - Main Street
Fee: 0
This workshop is in conjunction with Playhouse in the Park's production "Crowns", a play that tells the story of six African-American women through the hats they wear to church. Guild members will be assisting participants in designing and embelliishing hats. Materials and supplies are provided, may want to bring your sewing kit... Hats will be used in the production!

WHEEL THROWING 1 & 2
Date and Time: 6 weeks, Feb. 7 - March 3 (tuesdays 6-9pm) or Feb. 8 - March 14 (wednesdays 9am-noon)
Fee: $180
Instructor: Reid Parish
These classes are designed for those curious about throwing on the potters wheel (WT 1) and those with a bit of experience (WT 2). Focus will be on the basics (centering the clay, throwing mugs, bowls, vases, trimming and glazing). As time allows, handles and covered containers will be explored.
Fee includes 25 lb’s of clay, glazes and firing. Enrollment is limited.
CLAY HAND-BUILDING: HOME & GARDEN
Date and Time: 6 weeks, Feb. 8 - March 14 (wednesdays 6-9pm) or Feb. 9 - March 15 (thursdays 9am-noon)
Fee: $180

For beginners and advanced. Emphasis is on learning basic handbuilding skills using pinch, coil and slab techniques. We will also explore clay “appliqué”, carving and surface decoration using brightly-colored under and over glazes. Your creations will surprise you!
Fee includes 25 lb’s of clay, glazes and firing. Enrollment is limited.
OIL PAINTING
Date and Time: TBA - April
Fee: $160
Instructor: Gene Snowden
This class will meet weekly for 6 weeks and although the emphasis will be in oils, participants are welcome to work in other mediums including charcoal and pastel. Gene has a very straight forward approach in conveying information on the materials and techniques of creating a still life painting. Students will have the opportunity to set up their individual still life learning about lighting and composition, work through preliminary studies and develop a painting to completion.
ON GOING....
TUESDAY/FRIDAY OPEN STUDIOS
On Tuesday and Fridays, 10-3, the studios are open and typically there are artists working in painting and drawing as well as weaving. Anyone is welcome to bring their work and join us in the community studios. While these sessions are non-instructional, there is a mentoring working atmosphere.
WATERCOLOR WEDNESDAYS
Beginning Wednesday March 9 the emphasis in the commnunity studio will be watercolor. Local artist Sallie Guy will be on hand from 10-2 to help you get started and answer basic questions about waterdolor painting.
JEWELRY AND BEADING STUDIO
Thursday afternoons, noon-3pm, jewelry artist Beverly Kietzke is in the Guild studio working and anyone interested in making jewelry or working in beading is invited to join her. This is a great opportunity to share ideas, techniques and resources. A non-instructional creative learning experience!
THURSDAY NIGHT OPEN STUDIO
The Guild is open on Thursday evenings,6-9 for studio work. This is a non-instructional open studio. Members are invited to bring in their art and work in a creative atmosphere. This is an opportunity for seasoned artists to continue their work and share ideas, perhaps jumpstart new ideas: an opportunity to get out of the studio, but continue to work. At the same time, it is the opportunity for beginning artists to learn and work in a supportive studio.
DARKROOM
is open. Call to schedule time.
WEEKLY LIFE DRAWING -Minimal model
fee ($10 for walk ins, or $7 weekly if month is paid in advance). Call or email the
Guild by Tuesday noon to reserve your space. This is an on-going class
which will begin again after the HOlidays, Thursday Jan. 19. The session is non-instructional
and artist are encouraged to work in media of choice.
WEAVE A RUG IN A DAY
The loom is warped (dark colors) and weavers
are on hand … just waiting for you to begin! Make an appointment
during regular Guild hours (Saturday by arrangemment) to come in and weave a beautiful rag rug of your own design.
Materials are available, you simply decide what works for you.
Fee: $20 Guild members, $25 non-members.

Whiile we no longer schedule regular Plen Air Painting excursions, several are active an dinterested. For additional information contact the Guild office.

This is an opportunity for student artists to work independently in the studio with an instructor on hand to assist with conceptual and technical needs, but not a tight "how to" workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring in works in progress or ideas and materials to work on projects of their own design. Lindsey will be available to advise and assist throughout the creative process. Some standard materials and supplies are available in the studio for students to use as their work develops. If you are not sure exactly what it is you want to do, come on in and we'll help you find a place to get started!
